"Grimm" is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales.Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, "Turn The Beat Around") discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.
As he tries to hide the dangers of his new found calling from his fiancé, Juliette Silverton, (Bitsie Tulloch, "quarterlife"), and his partner, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby, "Lincoln Heights"), he becomes ever more entrenched in the ancient rivalries and alliances of the Grimm world. With help from his confidant, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell, "Prison Break"), a reformed Grimm creature himself, Nick must navigate through the forces of a larger-than-life mythology, facing off with Hexenbiests, Blutbads and all manner of ancient evils, including royal lines dating back to the original profilers themselves, The Grimm Brothers. Reggie Lee ("Persons Unknown") and Sasha Roiz ("Caprica") also star."
I think that this show is going to be really interesting. It has a lot of different elements. It's a criminal investingation show mixed with a supernatural show and to my knowledge I don't think that's ever been done. NBC classifies it as a drama but from the trailer you can tell that it's going to have some comic relief also. I was a little confused about these mythical creatures. They all pretty much look like werewolves and demons. I'm curious to see how exactly they use the Grimm Fairy Tales in the show.
If you want to know more about Grimm and watch the trailer, you can go to NBC's website at:

This does sound unique. I hope it finds its audience, but I'm skeptical. What is the drama/comedy mix? It seems like it would have to be a drama with some tongue-in-cheek humor, or it might be too outrageous.
ReplyDeleteas a huge fan of scifi/fantasy shows that don't have much of a snowball's chance (firefly, kindred, the lone gunmen) i have a secret hope that this show will stick around...but they usually burn themselevs out (see examples)
ReplyDeletenote:firefly had such a loyal fan base it got a motion picture, but realistically, i don't see that happening for GRIMM
i'm recanting my earlier statement...now that this show has aired, i must say i love their approach. this show gives a modern twist to old tales. i now have something scifi-ish to watch on friday nights again. something like this show has been missing since they dropped medium and ghost whisperer on cbs. i can't wait to see how the writers will address the gingerbread man.
